"Mistrust those in whom the urge to punish is strong." Friedrich Nietzche

"Any and all non-violent, non-coercive, non-larcenous, consensual adult behavior that does not physically harm other people or their property or directly and immediately endangers same, that does not disturb the peace or create a public nuisance, and that is done in private, especially on private property, is the inalienable right of all adults. In a truly free and liberty-loving society, ruled by a secular government, no laws should be passed to prohibit such behavior. Any laws now existing that are contrary to the above definition of inalienable rights are violations of the rights of adults and should be made null and void." D. M. Mitchell (from The Myth of Inalienable Rights, at: http://dowehaverights.blogspot.com/)

Three Cheers for Our Success in the War on Drugs

In 1989 King George I declared that we had turned a corner on the war on drugs...that we were winning. The feds were then in the process of coming down heavy on the meth-makers (almost all of which were in California) that were then producing hundreds of pounds of meth a year.

But, as with so many good intentions (regarding the suppression of rights), when you push down hard in one place, the thing you are trying to suppress pops up some place else. In this case, it was Mexico. Now, thousands of pounds, if not tons, of meth is being exported each year into the United States from Mexico. And, unlike the biker gangs of California, which were the original controllers of most meth in the U.S., the Mexicans took it to every place in America that there were Mexicans. That is, they took it to every place in America.

Success in the war on drugs means that the federal laws and policeis spread the use of meth faster than any normal market forces ever could have. Three cheers for our success in the war on drugs.

And now for another success story from the world of the war on drugs.... What is the war on drugs, you ask? It is the longest running war in the history of the United States...and it ain't ever going to stop. It's still a vote-getter for politicians, ensures job security for tens of thousands of state and federal bureaucrats, and millions of Americans continue to be users and abusers of the presently illegal drugs. (Why do I say presently illegal? Because, once upon a time these drugs were not illegal and the problems associated with them were not nearly as bad as today.) But I digress.

Recently, four people, a husband, his wife, and their two small children, were found brutally murdered along side of a Florida turnpike; shot to death...with multiple gunshot wounds. Now the police are saying that the adult male was definitely in the cocaine business.

I want you to understand something, these murders were not caused by the use of cocaine. They were caused by the laws which makes cocaine illegal to consenting adults. The fact is that few of the presently illegal drugs causes violent, murderous behavior merely from using it. That distinction is saved for alcohol, a legal narcotic drug, the mere use of which is responsible for the majority of all violent crimes. Why hell, what would wife beating and child molesting be without alcohol? Not to mention murder and manslaughter. Yet, politicians of all stripes, as well as judges, prosecutors and policemen use that deadly and addictive drug all the time. Can you say "hypocrites?"

So there it is, another success story in the war on drugs. A whole family murdered along a turnpike in Florida. Three cheers for the war on drugs.
